According to Sheriff Robert Maciol of the Oneida County Sheriff's Office on July 8, 2021, at about 7:30 PM, a strong storm came through the Town of Western which caused several wires and trees to come down across several roadways. Due to the extensive damage from the storm, Route 46 and several side roads in Western will be closed until the proper crews can remove the trees and wires. Please avoid the area of Western until further notice.
