The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a

* Flood Warning for Small stream in...
  Southeastern Oneida County in central New York...

* Until 815 AM EDT.

* At 516 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
  heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected
  to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of
  rain have fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  New Hartford, New York Mills, Yorkville, Whitesboro, Chadwicks and
  Maynard.

This includes the following streams and drainages...
 Sauquoit Creek
Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the
warned area. The Sauquoit creek is rising rapidly and has reached
the bottom of the Main Street bridge deck in Whitesboro. Additional
rises along the Sauquoit creek are possible, although the heaviest
rain has now ended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.
