According to the Oneida County Sheriff, Robert M. Maciol, on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at approximately 6:45 pm, Road Patrol Deputies responded to Route 12 in the Town of Steuben for a reported personal injury motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, Deputies determined that Elizabeth Griffith, 37, of Holland Patent, was operating a 2015 Ford Fusion in a Southerly direction on Route 12, when she experienced a medical event, causing her to lose consciousness. The vehicle then left the roadway, striking a billboard on the Western shoulder of the road and coming to rest down an embankment.

Griffith was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for further medical evaluation and treatment.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by members of the Remsen Vol. Fire Company, STaR Ambulance, and the New York State Police.
