According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O'Meara, who is the Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a Sangerfield man has been arrested for violating New York State’s Sex Offender Registry.

The investigation began in the Spring of 2021 when Sheriff’s Investigator Mark R. Chrysler, who is assigned to the Child Advocacy Center, attempted to locate Leon Marriott, age 39 of Sangerfield, for his address verification check. Over the following months, Marriott was still not located at the address where he was registered. It is required by law that a registered sex offender must change his address with the agency that monitors him within 10 days, which Marriott failed to do.

On July 26, 2021, Investigator Chrysler, and Sheriff’s Investigator Nicholas Dean, were able to locate Marriott. He was arrested without incident and charged with one count of Failing to Register Change of Address, a Class E Felony under the NYS Corrections Law.

After processing, Marriott was released on an appearance ticket returnable to Whitestown Town Court in August.
