According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol; On August 8, 2021, at about 0916 AM, Deputies responded to Stoney Brook Rd in the Town of Verona for a reported one car personal injury motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, Deputies determined that Maxim Podkowka (20), of Boonville, NY, was operating a white 2016 Jeep southwest on Stoney Brook Rd. Podkowka’s vehicle crossed the opposite lane of traffic and exited the eastern shoulder of the roadway, traveling into the ditch before striking a tree and coming to rest, causing heavy front end damage.

Podkowka was transported by Vineall Ambulance to St Elizabeth Hospital for leg and hip pain. A 14 year old female passenger in the back seat, whose name will not be released due to her age, was transported by Vineall Ambulance to Syracuse Upstate Hospital for chest, hip, and leg pain. Podkowka was issued citations for Failure to Keep Right, Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent, and Back Seat Passenger Age 8-15 No Seat Belt returnable to Verona Town Court at a later date.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by Verona Fire Department, Vernon Fire Department, Vineall Ambulance, Sherrill Police Department, and the New York State Police.
