According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, on 08/09/2021 at approximately 8:45 AM Gregory Brown was apprehended by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Unit at a Syracuse area hotel. Brown was apprehended after a warrant for Robbery in the 2nd degree, a class C felony was issued following a grand jury indictment.

Brown was also being sought after following the August 2nd incident that began in the City of Utica where it was alleged that Brown had stolen a car he later crashed in the Town of Vernon. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the apprehension of Brown by the U.S. Marshals, the New York New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, Syracuse Police Department and the Town of Dewitt Police Department.

Brown is currently in the custody of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and will be transported back to Oneida County where he will be arraigned on the warrant.

According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office responded to the Town of Vernon to assist the NYS ENCON Police with a reported stolen vehicle out of the City of Utica. The vehicle in question crashed at the intersection of Beaver Meadow Road and State Route 5. The driver then fled on foot into the wooded area to the north. During the course of the next 5-6 hours the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, NYS Police, Utica Police, and ENCON Police conducted a search of the wooded area. It was found that the male that fled the scene was identified as Gregory Brown 11/04/1984. He is described as a black male, bald, 5'11", 190 lbs. Brown is wanted on Felony Warrants as well as fleeing from the motor vehicle crash. Brown has yet to be apprehended and the Sheriff's Office is asking the public's help.
