According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, the Oneida Count Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a death in the Town of Whitestown. On September 3, 2021, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol Unit was dispatched to an area along the Mohawk River located in the Town of Whitestown regarding a body which had been located. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office/ Utica Police Department Dive Team was activated and responded to the scene to assist with removing the body from the river. The death investigation was turned over to the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit and they are currently working to identify the deceased male. The male is a middle aged adult, with balding hair. He is approximately 6 feet tall and was wearing blue jeans and a grey colored t-shirt. While on scene, the Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office, the Whitestown Police Department, the Village of Whitesboro Police Department and the Whitesboro Fire Department.
