According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, Road Patrol Deputies handled a domestic incident around 07:00 pm on Friday, September 10, 2021 that had occurred earlier on in the day on Cosby Manor Road in the Town of Deerfield. It was reported that Shayne Cavanaugh (33) had sexual intercourse with the female victim without her consent. Cavanaugh was located and taken into custody during the evening hours without incident and was transported to the Law Enforcement Building. The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit interviewed Cavanaugh and he was subsequently charged with Rape in the 3rd Degree (Class E Felony). He was booked, processed, and held at the Oneida County Jail to await arraignment.
