According to Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O’Meara, who is the Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a 16-year-old male from the City of Rome was referred to Oneida County Court for engaging in sexual contact with an 11-year-old female.

Sheriff’s Investigator Mark R. Chrysler was assigned the case on August 21, 2021. The investigation revealed that the act committed by the 16 year old would constitute one count of Sexual Abuse in the 2nd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, if committed by an adult.

On September 16, 2021, the 16 year old was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Juvenile Probation.

The victim has been offered counseling services through the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center and an Order of Protection has been requested.
