According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a small passenger plane made an emergency landing at Griffiss International Airport in Rome. On 09/28/2021 at around 12:34 PM, Enrique Carrasco, age 67, of Jupiter, Flordia, had just lifted off from Griffiss International Airport in a 5 passenger Velo City XLRG5 airplane destined for Florida. Shortly after takeoff, the prop on the plane had a minor mechanical problem forcing Carrasco to make an emergency landing back at Griffiss International Airport. Carrasco along with two other passengers was able to land safely with no injuries. Deputies were assisted on scene by Griffiss Airport Security, Rome Fire Department, and Rome Police Department.
