According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on September 28, 2021, at around 6:49 PM, Road Patrol Deputies responded to a personal injury accident located at the intersection of State Route 20 and State Route 12 in the Town of Sangerfield. Through an investigation on scene, it was discovered that Peter Carney, 52, of New Berlin was driving a 2000 Ford pickup truck easterly on State Route 20 when he traveled through a red light, striking a 2016 Kia being operated by Jennifer Collins, 43, of North Brookfield, who was traveling southerly on State Route 12. Jennifer had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Waterville Fire Department and she was transported to a local hospital for apparent minor injuries. Carney was issued a citation for the accident, returnable to Sangerfield Town Court at a later date. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on Scene by the Waterville Fire Department and Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corps. ​
