According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol:

Around 2:06 PM Deputies responded to a structure fire located at 5708 Merry Street in the Town of Verona. Upon arrival to the scene, the residence was fully engulfed and Deputies received reports that no one was located inside the residence at the time of the fire. Deputies were assisted on scene by Verona Fire Department, Vernon Fire Department, Vernon Center Fire Department, Oneida City Fire Department, New London Fire Department as well as Vineall Ambulance. A section of Merry Street was closed to traffic while responders handled the fire. The roadway is open now to all traffic.
