According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a City of Oneida man was arrested for damaging a motor vehicle. On June 9, 2021, the City of Sherrill Police Department responded to a fight call in the vicinity of West Hamilton Ave and State Route 5 in the Town of Vernon. During the investigation, it was determined that a physical altercation occurred between multiple individuals which resulted in a vehicle sustaining damage. The City of Sherrill Police Department determined that the incident occurred in the Town of Vernon and the case was turned over to the Sheriff’s Office. The case was subsequently turned over to the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit. On October 14, 2021, members of the Criminal Investigation Unit arrested Colin Chesebro, age 19, for Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, a D Felony. After Chesebro was processed at the Law Enforcement Building, he was transported to the Oneida County Jail where he was held pending an arraignment in CAP Court. After Chesebro's arraignment, he was released and will return to Vernon Town Court at a later date. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted with this investigation by the City of Sherrill Police Department.
