According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol; On October 30, 2021, at about 437 PM, Deputies responded to Route 26 near Schieferstine Rd in the Town of Westmoreland for a reported one car, roll-over, personal injury motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, Deputies determined that Daniel Sehn (33), of New York Mills, NY, was operating a black Ford Explorer North on Route 26. Due to steering failure and other unknown circumstances, Sehn lost control of the vehicle resulting in an abrupt right hand turn which caused the vehicle to overturn on the roadway. Sehn’s vehicle entered the ditch on the East shoulder of the roadway, traveled approximately 100 feet, and came to rest upright partially in the roadway facing West.

Sehn was transported from the scene to St Elizabeth Hospital to be evaluated for hand injuries. A 6 year old passenger and 4 year old passenger, whose names will not be released due to their age, were properly restrained in the rear of the vehicle and were also transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for minor injuries. No citations have been issued at this time.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by Westmoreland Fire Department, Stanwix Heights Fire Department, COCVAC Ambulance, and the New York State Police.
