According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on November 9, 2021, at around 02:08 AM, Road Patrol Deputies responded to a one car personal injury accident on Lower Lawrence Street in the Town of Westmoreland.

Through an investigation on scene, it was determined that Heather Solomon, 29, of Rome, was driving a 2017 Toyota Corolla northerly on Lower Lawrence Street when she reportedly swerved for deer in the roadway, causing her vehicle to leave the roadway, striking a mailbox and a utility pole. Solomon was transported from the scene to a local hospital for apparent minor injuries. Solomon was issued a traffic citation regarding the accident, returnable to Westmoreland Town Court at a later date. Lower Lawrence Street, between Eureka Road and W Carter Road, remains closed while National Grid makes necessary repairs. Drivers are advised to avoid the area until the roadway is reopened.
