According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol; On November 16, 2021, at about 1138 AM, Deputies responded to Route 49 near Herder Rd in the Town of Vienna for a reported one car personal injury motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, Deputies determined that Jonathan Gamble (52), of Rome, NY, was operating a white 2011 Chevrolet Silverado Southeast on Route 49. Due to unsafe speed and slippery road conditions, Gamble’s vehicle exited the southern shoulder of the roadway, traveling down an embankment, and entered an area of heavy brush. Gamble’s vehicle traveled approximately 100 yards through the brush before striking a ditch and a tree with the front and driver side of the vehicle before coming to rest facing Northeast.

Gamble was transported from the scene to Rome Memorial Hospital to be evaluated for lower back pain. No citations have been issued at this time.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by Vienna Fire Department, AmCare Ambulance, and the New York State Police.
