Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol and the members of the Sheriff’s Office would like to congratulate Correction Officer Richard Sturgeon on his retirement after 36 years of service with the agency. Officer Sturgeon has worked in the Corrections Division for over three and a half decades with additional assignments to the Sheriff’s Honor Guard, the Corrections Training Academy, Commissary, and Inmate Hearing Officer. Although he is retiring as a Corrections Officer, he won’t be going very far as he’ll be coming back as a part time Special Patrol Officer (SPO) assigned to one of the more than fifty municipal security posts throughout Oneida County including our schools.
