According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a Rome man was charged with reckless assault after investigation of an incident that occurred in the Town of Floyd on Tuesday.

James A. Newey, 46, of Rome was charged with Assault in the third degree, a class A misdemeanor, after it was alleged that on 12/07/2021 while involved in a dispute at a residence on Stearns Road in the Town of Floyd, Newey kicked an end table that struck the victim on the face. The victim sought treatment days later and was found to have suffered a broken nose due to the incident.

Newey was booked and issued an appearance ticket which directs that he is to appear in Floyd Town Court on an upcoming date for arraignment.
