According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol; On January 6, 2022, at about 9:14 AM Deputies responded to 9005 Old River Rd in the Town of Marcy for a reported Motor Vehicle Accident with unknown injuries.

Upon arrival, Deputies determined that Deionnie Rose (22) of Jamaica, NY was operating a black, 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander westbound on Old River Rd when he attempted to make a left-hand turn, failed to yield the right of way, and collided with an oncoming Suburban Propane truck. The Suburban Propane truck, a 2018 International Tanker, was operated by a John Theron (33) of Remsen, NY. The impact of the collision caused the Suburban Propane truck to overturn, and leak propane.

All occupants were evaluated on scene by Kunkel Ambulance.

Rose was issued citations for failure to keep right, failure to yield the right of way on a left turn, and moved from lane unsafely made returnable to Marcy Town Court at a later date.

Old River Road remains closed at this time while the truck is emptied. There is no danger to the public. The public will be notified once the roadway is open.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by The New York State Police, New York State DEC, New York State Fire, NYS Department of Corrections, The Utica Fire Department Hazmat Unit, The Maynard Fire Department, The Stittville Fire Department, Kunkel Ambulance, and the Town of Marcy DPW.
