According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on January 17, 2022, at approximately 12:20 AM Oneida County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a personal injury motor vehicle accident on State Route 5 in the Town of Vernon.

Deputies determined that Kohteinlin Aung (41) of Utica, was operating a 2021 Honda Pilot easterly on State Route 5 when he lost control of his vehicle on the snow covered road, striking the guide rail and coming to rest on its side in a ditch. Two passenger’s inside the vehicle, Bway Mue (64) of Utica, and Caroline Shwe (54) of Utica both complained of head and neck pain. Aung also complained of head pain and sustained a small laceration to his head. All three parties were transported to Oneida City Hospital by Vineall ambulance for further evaluation.

Aung was issued a citation for failing to maintain lane and speed not reasonable and prudent, returnable to Vernon Town Court.
