According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on 1-22-22 at about 3:25 pm, the Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol and the Recreation Unit responded to a snowmobile versus car accident on St Rt 8 in the Town of Deerfield.

The investigation concluded that Douglas Altrock, 51 of Ilion NY was operating a 2017 Ski Doo northwest on trail C7R and attempted to cross St Rt 8. Altrock failed to yield the right of way to Melisasu Pardee, 39 of Cold Brook NY who was operating a 2014 Honda CRV southbound on St Rt 8. Altrock’s snowmobile struck the driver’s side rear of Pardee’s SUV. Altrock stated that the sun's glare prevented him from seeing Pardee’s vehicle.

Altrock was issued a summons for failing to yield the right of way while crossing a roadway. The summons is returnable at a later date to the Town of Deerfield Court.

No injuries were reported at the scene.
