According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on February 8th, 2022 Sheriff’s Deputies responded to VVS High School after several students became ill from smoking a liquid through a vape pen smoking device.

One student was transported from the school to local hospitals for evaluation. Two other students were evaluated at the school and were not transported. The exact number of students that used the vape pen is unknown at this time.

The investigation into the contents of the vape pen and the situation surrounding the incident is still pending.
