According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on February 15, 2022 patrol officers along with several local fire departments responded to Gossner Rd. In the Town of Annsville after neighbors reported a working structure fire around 1:30 pm. Taberg, Lee Center, Camden, and West Leyden fire departments all responded to extinguish the fire. At the time of their arrival, the structure was fully involved by fire and the homeowner was unaccounted for. After the fire was under control, a search began for the missing homeowner. Human remains were discovered in the debris around 9 pm. The Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office was contacted and responded to secure the remains for further investigation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and the name of the person is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin. The Sheriffs Office were also assisted on scene by members of the New York State Police.
