According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on 03/10/2022, at approximately 12:17 AM, an adult male sustained minor injuries after a personal injury motor vehicle accident that occurred on State Route 26, in the City of Rome.

James Smith, 51, of Rome, was driving a 2011 Ford Escape, traveling Southbound on State Route 26, in the City of Rome, when lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a ditch, causing James’s vehicle to overturn. James was entrapped in the vehicle for a short time and extricated by members of the Rome Fire Dept. James was evaluated on scene, and transported by Amcare Ambulance to St Elizabeth's Hospital for complaints of back pain. At this time no tickets have been issued and the accident is pending further investigation.
