The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was proud to attend a ceremony in honor of Ivy Cameron at Memorial Park Elementary School.

On the morning of March 14, 2022, Ivy was spending the night at a family member's home. She was awoken by the family dog Spike and also smelled smoke. Ivy then proceeded to wake the family, and everyone was able to evacuate the home safely.

At the ceremony, Sergeant Morgan presented Ivy with a Certificate of Heroism plaque and credentials making her an honorary member of the Sheriff's Office.

“Your heroic actions taken on the morning of March 14th during a house fire clearly helped to save the lives of your family members and pets and you are to be commended for this act of bravery.”

Thank you to the members of the Oriskany Falls Fire Department, Waterville Volunteer Fire Department, Deansboro Fire Department, and the North Brookfield Fire Department for welcoming the Sheriff’s Office to attend today's event.
