According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, at approximately 2:00 PM on March 29, 2022, Road Patrol Deputies responded to the vicinity of Ranney Road in the Town of Annsville for reports of a serious physical injury motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival to the scene, Deputies located a single car motor vehicle accident. Though the accident is still under investigation, it was discovered that a 2014 Jeep Compass being operated by Stanley Gleason, 92, struck a tree off the shoulder of the roadway. Gleason sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. Gleason’s front seat passenger, Phyllis Willson, 91, was extricated from the vehicle and flown to Upstate Hospital in the City of Syracuse via Mercy Flight. At this time, Willson’s injuries do not appear to be life threatening. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Taberg Fire Department, Amcare Ambulance Service, and the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office. During the investigation, Ranney Road was closed and has now been re-opened for traffic. At this time, the investigation is still ongoing in an attempt to determine what caused Gleason’s vehicle to exit the roadway.
