According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O'Meara, who is the Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a 46 year old man from Lakeland, Florida, has been charged with having sexual contact with a female child in the City of Utica. The case was reported to the Child Advocacy Center on July 3rd, 2021. The investigation revealed that over the course of 8 years, Gregory J. Taylor subjected a female child, from the age of 4 years old until she was 12 years old, to repeated sexual contact. Taylor was indicted by the Oneida County Grand Jury and a Warrant for his arrest was issued by Oneida County Court on February 17th, 2022.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Unit and the U.S. Marshal’s Service, New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, located Taylor in Lakeland, Florida, where he was taken into custody by members of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshal’s Service Regional Fugitive Task Force in Florida on March 2nd, 2022. Taylor was returned from Florida to the custody of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office on April 21st, 2022.

On April 22nd, 2022, Taylor was arraigned in Oneida County Court, charged with Predatory Sexual Assault against a Child, (an A-II Felony), Rape in the first degree, (a B Felony), and Sexual Abuse in the first degree, (a D Felony). Taylor was committed to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail, or $100,000 bond.

Services have been offered to the child through the Child Advocacy Center.
