According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on 05/25/22 at just after 10:00 in the morning, Alan Clemons age 64 of Dolgeville, N.Y. was operating a fully loaded flatbed log truck in an Easterly direction on Route 274 in the Town of Steuben, when Angele Veloso operating a 2005 Hyundai entered Rt. 274 from Cemetery St., causing the log truck to strike her vehicle.

Both vehicles then left the roadway coming to rest in a nearby hayfield. Mr. Clemons was uninjured in the incident while Ms. Veloso sustained non life threatening injuries and was transported to SUNY Upstate Hospital in Syracuse via Mercy Flight.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the New York State Police, Holland Patent Fire Dept. Western Fire Dept., STAR Ambulance, NYS Department of Transportation, and Shufelt's Towing.
