According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol; On August 4, 2022, at about 10:11 PM, Deputies responded to Barker Rd in the Town of Augusta for a reported one car personal injury motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, Deputies determined that Francesca M. Matteson (20), of Augusta, NY, was operating a gray 2008 Honda Civic west on Barker Rd. Matteson failed to keep right and was traveling at an unsafe speed around a curve in the road. As a result, Matteson crossed the eastbound lane of traffic and exited the southern shoulder of the roadway, striking a ditch with the front end of her vehicle before overturning and coming to rest on its roof.

Matteson was transported by Central Oneida County Ambulance Service to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Matteson was issued a citation returnable to Augusta Town Court at a later date.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by Oriskany Falls Fire Department and Central Oneida County Ambulance.
