According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on 08/19/2022, at about 10:20 PM, the Rome Walmart Store located at 5815 Rome Taberg Rd in the City of Rome received a phone call from a male stating that there was a bomb in the store. The store employee who received the call, reported the call to a Deputy who was at the store conducting an investigation of an unrelated incident. The store was then evacuated. Explosive Detection K9 units from the Sheriff's Office, Utica Police Dept, and New York State Police conducted searches in the store. At the conclusion of the K9 searches, no explosives were located and the store was reopened at around 2:00 AM. The investigation into the call is ongoing.
