According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on August 15, 2022, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol Unit responded to Route 233 Storage located at 6185 State Route 233 in the Town of Westmoreland for reports of a burglary. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a storage unit was broken into, and property was stolen. The case was then turned over to the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit for further investigation. During the investigation, a suspect was identified and on September 9, 2022, the Criminal Investigation Unit arrested 32-year-old John Grass from the City of Rome for Burglary in the Third Degree, a class D Felony. Grass was already being held at the Oneida County Jail on unrelated criminal charges. Grass will be arraigned on the new charge at Oneida County CAP Court at a later time.
