According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, On September 22, 2022, at or around 7:55 pm, Road Patrol Deputies responded to the intersection of State Route 365 and The Turning Stone Main Access Road in the Town of Verona for a reported personal injury motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, Deputies determined that Robert Steinmetz (83), of Fairview Park, OH, was operating a blue 2021 Jeep Cherokee on State Route 365. Steinmetz attempted to make a U-turn on State Route 365 and turned in front of Jamie Trudeau (35), of Verona, NY. Trudeau then struck Steinmetz's vehicle. Trudeau's vehicle then left the southern shoulder of the roadway and struck a utility pole. Both Trudeau and Steinmetz passengers complained of chest pains. Steinmetz did not receive any injuries from the accident. Steinmetz was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way, returnable to the Town of Verona Court at a later date.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the Verona Fire Department, New York State Fire, Kinney's Towing, Rocker's Towing, the New York State Police, the Oneida Indian Nation Police, and Vineall Ambulance.
