According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O’Meara, who is the director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a Town of Lee man has been arrested for sexually assaulting 4 children, under the age of 11.

In March of 2022, the Child Advocacy Center received a report alleging that 34-year-old Michael Provost had engaged in sexual contact with a female child, under the age of 11, over the course of the previous 2 years. Oneida County Sheriff’s Investigator Nicholas Dean, assigned to the Child Advocacy Center, was assigned to the case. The ensuing investigation revealed evidence which alleged that Provost had engaged in sexual contact with 2 additional female children, and 1 male child, all under the age of 11, over the course of the previous 5 years. As a result of the subsequent investigation, Provost was indicted by the Oneida County Grand Jury on 8 counts of Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, (Class A-II Felonies), 8 counts of Criminal Sexual Act in the First degree, (Class B Felonies), 8 counts of Sexual Abuse in the First degree, (Class D Felonies), 2 counts of Assault in the Third degree, (Class A Misdemeanors), and 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, (Class A Misdemeanors). Provost was arrested by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Unit and the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, on Wednesday, October 26th, 2022.

Provost was arraigned on the charges in Oneida County Court after his arrest. Provost was remanded to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $75,000.00 bail.

An order of protection was issued by the court and services have been offered to the victims by the Child Advocacy Center.
