According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O’Meara, who is the director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a Utica man has been arrested for subjecting a female child, under the age of 11, to sexual contact.

In February of 2022, the Child Advocacy Center received a report alleging that 58-year-old Jonathan Julian had engaged in sexual contact with a female child over the course of the previous year. Oneida County Sheriff’s Investigator Tyler Barnes, assigned to the Child Advocacy Center, was assigned to the case. As a result of the subsequent investigation, Julian was indicted by the Oneida County Grand Jury on 2 counts of Sexual Abuse in the First degree, (Class D Felonies). Julian was arrested by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Unit and the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, on Monday, October 24th, 2022.

Julian was arraigned on the charges in Oneida County Court on Tuesday, October 25th, 2022. Julian was remanded to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $5,000.00 bail. An order of protection was issued by the court and services have been offered to the victim by the Child Advocacy Center.

Julian was released from the Oneida County Jail on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, after posting bail.
