According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol, at approximately 7:59 am the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Special Patrol Officer assigned to VVS, Officer Avery, was notified by School Administrators of a possible social media threat and a response from the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was initiated. Deputy Dorr and Deputy Colucy from the Sheriff’s Office responded to investigate the incident which was found to be not credible.

The image of the non-specific suggestive threat was taken from a Tik Tok video and sent out as a “joke”. At no time were any students or staff members in any danger. We do want to remind people that such statements that are made as a “joke” can lead to legal consequences, we ask that all parents have a conversation with their school age children as these “jokes”, statements, or suggestive photographs have the ability to place students, staff and parents in fear as well as disrupting the learning process for other children.

The Sheriff’s Office is committed to keeping our communities and schools safe.
