Single vehicle personal injury accident leads to DWI arrest

According to the Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol on November 30, 2022, at approximately 10:50 pm deputies responded to a single vehicle personal injury accident at the intersection of State Route 8 and Walker Rd in the Town of Deerfield.

Following an investigation, deputies determined that Donald J Morgan was traveling Northbound on Walker Rd in a Ford Explorer when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection at Route 8 crossing both lanes of traffic and crashing on the Northern shoulder of Route 8. Morgan was evaluated on scene for an injury to his mouth and refused further medical treatment on scene.

Deputies determined that Morgan was at fault for the accident and was driving while intoxicated at the time of the accident. Morgan was charged with DWI, failure to stop at a stop sign, moving from lane unsafely, speed not reasonable and prudent, and no seat belt. Morgan was issued an appearance ticket and various UTT's returnable to the Town of Deerfield court at a later date.

Deputies were assisted on scene by the Deerfield Fire Department and COCVAC Ambulance.
