According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol; Two people were arrested after an investigation into a domestic that occurred in the City of Rome.

As investigated and reported by Deputy R. Hagerty, on December 6, 2022, Gary A. Niles, 37, was arrested on charges related to a physical domestic incident.

Upon completion of the investigation, Niles was arrested and charged with Harassment 2nd, a violation, criminal obstruction of breath or blood circulation, class A misdemeanor, and 2 counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, class A misdemeanor.

Niles was transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building for processing and held at the Oneida County Correctional Facility for arraignment.

Services are being offered to the victim and child protective services have been notified.

While concluding the investigation into this matter, deputies on scene were attempting to remove an unwanted party from the residence. The party, Tracy L. Niles, 54, was advised several times that she needed to leave the residence and was given time to do so. Niles did not comply with deputies orders and when they began to remove her, she smashed a metal soda can into the face and chest of the Sergeant on scene. Niles was then advised she would be arrested for harassment 2nd, a violation. Niles resisted arrest, and was charged with such, but ultimately was taken into custody.

Niles was transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building for processing and held at the Oneida County Correctional Facility for arraignment.
