According to Sheriff Robert Maciol, on December 16, 2022, at about 1:12 p.m. there was a two-car Motor Vehicle Accident at the intersection of Lowell Road and State Route 26 in the Town of Westmoreland.

As investigated and reported by Deputy Villarreal, Denise Georger, age 51, from the Town of Hamburg, was operating a 2016 Kia SUV on Lowell Road in the Town of Westmoreland and failed to Yield Right of Way at a Stop Sign. As Georger proceeded into the intersection of State Route 26, she collided with a 2010 Jeep SUV operated by Doreen Sheridan, age 59, from the Town of Vernon, on the front end of Sheridan’s vehicle, causing heavy damage to both vehicles.

Georger and her passenger, Kyle Georger, age 21, from the Town of Hamburg, were transported to St. Elizabeth's Hospital for further evaluation of chest pain. Sheridan was transported to Rome hospital for further evaluation of chest pain.

None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.

Georger was issued citations returnable to Westmoreland Town Court at a later date.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s office was assisted on scene by Westmoreland Fire Department, COCVAC Ambulance, and Vineall Ambulance.
