According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, at approximately 4 PM on January 11, 2023, it was reported to 911 dispatch that a car was seen in the Barge Canal at the end of Barnes Ave. in the Town of Marcy.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded and located the car but it was late in the afternoon and there would not have been enough time to get Divers in the water before dark. So for safety reasons, it was determined that the recovery would wait until today (1/12/23). This morning Sheriff’s Deputies, Divers, and Investigators responded back to the scene and recovered the car.

It was found that the car had been stolen from Seymour Ave. in the City of Utica last September.

The car had extensive damage and there was no one inside the vehicle.
