Rome Man charged with Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol; On January 18th, 2023 at approximately 12:08 p.m., John A. Rathbun, 25, was charged with Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting Arrest for an incident that occurred on Ridge St. in the City of Rome. According to Sergeant D.C. Famolaro; Rathbun was observed acting in a threatening, and tumultuous manner obstructing traffic on Ridge Street. He then approached an unmarked Oneida County Sheriff’s Vehicle and punched the driver’s side window as it slowly attempted to proceed. Rathbun then fled the scene and was later located on S. George St. in the City of Rome. When he was encountered and told he was under arrest he began to shout obscenities and continued to act in a threatening manner. He attempted to flee, but was taken into custody. He was later charged with one count of Disorderly Conduct, and resisting Arrest. He was transported to the Kurt Wyman Law Enforcement Building and processed by members of the Patrol Division. He was later released after being issued appearance ticket(s), and he was scheduled to appear in Rome City Court on a later date.
