According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, on February 13, 2023, at about 739 AM, Deputies responded to Route 365 eastbound near Spring Rd in the Town of Verona for a reported two car personal injury motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, Deputies determined that Karen Bone (34) of Syracuse, NY was operating a green 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound on Route 365. Due to glare from the sun and unreasonable speed, Bones’ vehicle was unable to stop for slowing traffic and struck the rear of a blue/grey 2022 “Bliss Environmental Services Inc.” garbage truck operated by Bernard Bell (60) of Williamstown, NY causing damage to both vehicles.

Bone complained of wrist pain and was transported to Oneida Hospital along with her two juvenile passengers, whose names will not be released due to their age, for evaluations only. Both juveniles were properly secured in appropriate Child Safety Restraint Systems. Bell was evaluated and released on scene. Bone was issued a citation for Unreasonable Speed Under Special Hazards (by reason of weather) returnable to Verona Town Court at a later date.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by Verona Fire Department, Vineall Ambulance, Rocker’s Automotive Rescue, and the New York State Police.
