According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol; On February 14, 2023, at about 9:00 AM, Deputies responded to 75 Chenango Ave N, the Clinton Elementary School, in the Village of Clinton for a reported two car motor vehicle accident in the parking lot circle.

Upon arrival, Deputies determined that Linda McHarris (62), of Clinton, NY, was operating a 2022 IC School Bus #65 for Clinton School District and had come to a complete stop in front of the elementary school, placed the bus in neutral and shut off the ignition while awaiting drop-off of the students on board. Due to driver inattention, McHarris had exited the driver seat with the parking brake not completely engaged while she began a check of the students on board and went to the rear of the bus to disengage the bus alarm. The school bus began to slowly roll backwards until it struck a parked and unoccupied grey 2013 Mazda SUV in the rear passenger door causing minor damage.

No injuries were reported and the 31 students on board of the bus were evaluated by the Clinton School District nursing staff as a precaution.
