On February 25th, 2023 at about 3:41 pm, Nicholas Sutton, age 30, was operating a 2015 Audi and attempting to enter the roadway onto State Route 46 in the Town of Western. Due to entering the roadway unsafely from the Woods Valley Parking Lot, Sutton pulled in front of a 2019 Mitsubishi being operated by 33 year old Suzanne Shilling and caused a right angle collision. Sutton’s and Shilling’s vehicles both sustained heavy damage as a result of the collision. Amcare ambulance transported Sutton as well as the other occupants of his vehicle to Rome Health. Shilling and the occupants of her vehicle also responded to Rome Health to be evaluated. All injuries appeared to be non-life threatening.

Sutton was issued traffic citations that are returnable to the Western Town Court at a later date.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted by Amcare Ambulance, the Town of Western Fire Dept, NYS police, NYS park police, and woods valley staff.
