According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, a juvenile in the custody of the Allegany County Sheriff's Office led Oneida County deputies on a brief foot pursuit following escape from an Allegany County transport vehicle.

The incident occurred on March 7th at around 5:00 PM, when deputies were advised that a juvenile had escaped from an Allegany County transport vehicle, while in the sally port area of the Oneida County Correctional facility. The juvenile was to be housed in the correctional facility on felony charges from Allegany County. When the Officers pulled the transport vehicle into the sally port, the juvenile, who was not in restraints, rolled down the window and was able to exit the transport vehicle and the sally port area. The juvenile led deputies and investigators on a foot pursuit into a wooded area across from the jail before he was apprehended and taken into custody without further incident.

The incident is still currently under investigation as charges are pending.
