According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert M. Maciol, at approximately 5:20 am on the 4th of April 2023, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office was notified by the Waterville Central School District Administration regarding a bomb threat that they had received.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office initiated a response of Road Patrol, Investigators, and the K-9 units to the Waterville Jr./ Sr. High School and the Memorial Park Elementary School. A search of the buildings was conducted and the buildings were found to be clear. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the City of Utica Police Department Explosive Detection K-9 unit along with the New York State Police.
