According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M Maciol, on the 26th of April 2023, at approximately 10:30AM a search warrant was executed at 1232 Court St Utica NY “Unique West Side Smoke Shop”. The search warrant was the result of complaints and information regarding the sales of untaxed cigarettes and the sales of other illicit substances.

Seized from this location was over $2,000 in cash, and over 15,000 untaxed cigarettes.

The suspect(s) in this case whose names are being withheld pending further action by the Oneida County Grand Jury are facing felony possession of untaxed cigarettes; misdemeanor sale of untaxed cigarettes and conspiracy to commit these crimes.

This investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit was assisted by members of the Oneida County Forensic ID Unit, Oneida County Road Patrol, Utica Police Department SIU, New York State Police VGNET, Rome Police Department SIU, United States Internal Revenue Service and the Oneida County Health Department.
