According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert M. Maciol, at approximately 7:21 am on the 27th of April 2023, Oneida County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash that occurred on Cosby Manor Rd. in the Town of Deerfield. It was reported as a two car crash involving a school bus.

Deputies responded to the scene and found that Mark Bostwick, 39, of Deerfield was operating a 2015 Jeep Wrangler westerly on Cosby Manor Rd. behind a Whitesboro Central School District Bus which was operated by Deborah Contas, 61, of Yorkville. Bostwick attempted to pass the bus several times in a no passing zone eventually attempting to pass the bus on the right shoulder of the roadway causing his vehicle to strike the bus near the door. 14 occupants were on the bus and no injuries were reported on scene. Bostwick was issued several traffic citations including failing to stop for a school bus, improper passing, failure to keep right, and aggravated unlicensed operation.

Bostwick is to appear in the Town of Deerfield Court on a later date. Deputies were assisted on scene by Deerfield Fire Department.
