Third Press Release and Update:

On May 11, 2023, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Unit arrested a second inmate regarding the escape incident that occurred at Utica City Court on May 10, 2023. The Criminal Investigation Unit arrested Kristopher L. Spain, age 35, of Utica, for Escape in the Third Degree, a class A Misdemeanor. During the investigation, it was discovered that Spain also fled the Sheriff's Office Transport team while they were leaving Utica City Court. Spain is currently in custody at the Oneida County Jail and he will be arraigned in CAP Court at a later time.

Second Press Release and Update:

Earlier today, inmate, Mitchell Clark, 40 who was being held at the Oneida County Correctional Facility for Criminal Contempt 1st and harassment 2nd ran from correctional officers while exiting Utica City Court. Clark was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit with the assistance of members of the City of Utica Police Department. Inmate Clark was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Clark was evaluated and released from the hospital. Clark was transported back to OCJ and will be arraigned in CAP Court for Escape 2nd, a class E felony.

First Press Release:

According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert M. Maciol, on the 10th of May 2023 at approximately 12:26pm an Oneida County Sheriff's Office Correctional Facility Incarcerated Person, Mitchell J. Clark, of Frankfort Fled from Custody after a court appearance at Utica City Court. Prior to entering the Corrections van to return to the Oneida County Correctional Facility, Clark ran from the Officers in westerly direction towards Oriskany Blvd., where he attempted to get into an occupied vehicle. Clark was immediately subdued and taken into custody. The incident is under investigation and further information will be released at a later time.
