Update

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, an arrest has been made following an investigation by the School Resource Officer. On Tuesday, May 9, it was reported that a student had made alarming comments that were overheard by peers and walked out of school.

The student was quickly located at home and found to be with a parent. The school campus temporarily closed during lunches as a precaution and to assist with this investigation. No students or staff at the school were deemed to be in any danger during this incident.

A juvenile was charged with Making a threat of mass harm, a class B misdemeanor, and issued an appearance ticket returnable to Oneida County Juvenile Probation. The name of the juvenile will not be released due to age.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office is committed to the safety of schools and continues to work with our school administrations to ensure the safety of students and staff members in Oneida County.

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, there was an incident late this morning at the Westmoreland High School where a student had made alarming comments and then walked home.

The School Resource Officer was immediately notified and an investigation was initiated which involved members of the Oneida County Sheriff's Office Road Patrol.

The Westmoreland Junior-Senior High School campus was temporarily closed during lunches as a precaution.

Further investigation is pending.
