Earlier this week, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with the New York State Department Of Transportation, participated in an "Operation Hard Hat" detail on Route 12 North in Utica.

The detail is aimed at addressing work zone traffic safety violations that pose a danger to the DOT workers who are working along the roadways. Members of the Sheriff's Office are present in the work zone to identify drivers committing traffic offenses within this area.

The detail ran for about four hours and Road Patrol Deputies issued a total of 27 tickets including but not limited to move over law, seatbelt, cell phone, speed, suspended operator, and no insurance.
